o inspire healthy lifestyle habits, VCA, in association with the Rotary Club of Nagpur Fort (led by President Ram Nakkannawar), organised a World Lung Day Walkathon at Walker’s Street, Civil Lines. Over 50 early participants were awarded special event t-shirts to mark the kickoff.
Specialists emphasised that these hazards contribute to life-threatening conditions such as Asthma, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Pneumonia, Tuberculosis (TB), and Pulmonary Fibrosis.
As part of the diagnostic outreach, VCA conducted free Pulmonary Function Test (PFT) and spirometry screening camps across multiple healthcare facilities, including ESIS Hospital, Panacea Clinic, Faye Chest Clinic, Lungpoint, Dande Hospitals, One Healthcare, Central India Chest Centre, Rathi Chest Clinic, Gandhare Chest and Diagnostics, and Getwell Hospital.
Dr Rajesh Swarnakar, President, Vidarbha Chest Association said, “Early diagnosis through spirometry and preventive measures like adult vaccinations are vital safeguards against severe pulmonary infections and progressive lung degradation.”
Dr Nainesh Patel pointed out, “Avoiding exposure to tobacco smoke and environmental pollutants remains our first line of defense in managing conditions like chronic asthma and pulmonary fibrosis.”
Dr Sumer Choudhary, Vice-President, Vidarbha Chest Association stated, “Routine screenings allow us to catch silent lung deterioration early, giving patients a much better chance at maintaining full physical capacity and quality of life.”
